Objectives: 1. Attendees will increase knowledge and understanding of perinatal mental health. 2. Attendees will increase strategies to assist people experiencing perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. Additional course description: Pregnancy and the postpartum period can be accompanied by many stresses, struggles and/or mood changes. In this 60 minute session participants will learn from a nationally certified perinatal mental health health therapist about mental and emotional changes that can occur in pregnancy and postpartum. Attendees will learn strategies to assist in navigating and coping through this exciting and challenging time. Brief bio: McKenzie K. Decker, MSW, LCSW, PMH-c, graduated from Arizona State University with a degree in sociology and a Masters of Social Work from Portland State University. McKenzie spent time in London, serving and teaching people from many different countries in all states of life. Her husband’s goal to become a pharmacist brought their family to Hillsboro, Oregon. She has over 14 years of experience in medical social work. For the last 7 years she has been providing mental healthcare to people across the reproductive lifespan. With a national perinatal health certification, she focuses care in the areas of perinatal related mood and anxiety disorders, bereavement, and birth trauma. She is a humbled parent of two very energetic, spunky and fun-loving children. As a family they love to go on adventures, build with Legos and listen to audiobooks. Disneyland is a choice destination and Harry Potter is the protagonist choice at this age and stage. McKenzie enjoys a good Rom Com, walks with friends and completing items on her bucket list.
