DESCRIPTION There are few topics more heated these days than gender. Opinions abound, as do often harmful and damaging discussions. We often find ourselves asking how on earth people can hold so tightly to such destructive and erroneous thinking patterns? Why won’t they listen? We may even be unsure ourselves what to say about gender. Most of us know it’s not “Just chromosomes,” but what is it? This short course will take you through the most up-to-date science giving you vocabulary and understanding you can pass on to others. In addition, you will learn the neurological mechanisms. Objectives: 1) List and describe the science of gender, including up-to-date associated social vocabulary 2) Describe what happens biologically in people who are resistant to listening to enhance self-regulation in difficult discussions Hannah Smith, MA, LMHC, CGP (She/Her), is the founder of Potential Finders Network, LLC and is a book author and blog writer, consultant, aspiring activist, international board-certified group psychotherapist (CGP), and national educator from the Seattle area. As a neurodivergent person, how the brain works has always fascinated her. Over the last two decades, she has done extensive study of neuroscience-informed clinical treatment and is certified by the Mindsight Institute in Interpersonal Neurobiology. Having lived & worked both in the US and abroad, Hannah has developed many culturally competent, cutting-edge & relevant training programs.
