About the presenter

Kathleen Adams, PhD, LMFT: Kathleen M Adams, PhD, is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Clinical Supervisor. After a fulfilling career as an LMFT, she returned to school for her PhD in Human Development and Family Studies, completed in 2001. She taught and mentored MFT students for 20 years as a university professor and clinical supervisor, most recently creating and directing the Marriage and Family Therapy master’s program at Oregon Institute of Technology. Currently semi-retired, she has a private practice in Klamath Falls, OR providing therapy, clinical supervision, case consultation and training.

Ericka Day, EdD, LPC: Hello, my name is Dr. Ericka Day. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Idaho. I run an EMDR practice in the beautiful city of Coeur d’Alene Idaho, where I focus on transforming shame to confidence, trauma to resilience and confusion to life direction. I have a background of 10 years in crisis services working with children and adults of all ages. The gift this experience has given me is the understanding that therapeutic processes need to evolve with the needs of the population. We as a community need to diligently learn how society, culture and industry are developing in order to best navigate creating healthy generational change.

Britt (Urban) Axness, LCSW: Britt (Urban) Axness is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Oregon who has nearly 16 years of experience working with both youth and adults in diverse contexts. Her professional focus has been supporting trauma survivors and other vulnerable populations, including refugees and immigrants, domestic violence and sexual assault survivors, and those struggling with mental health and substance use challenges. Her work as a mental health crisis responder in recent years has provided her with the knowledge and skills to effectively respond to individuals experiencing suicidal and/or homicidal ideation, and to de-escalate a variety of crisis situations.
