This four-hour live workshop walks therapists through the essential steps of launching a sole-proprietor mental health private practice. Carrie Sorenson, LMFT, covers readiness and legal setup, choosing a practice model and setting fees, ethics, HIPAA and risk management, the systems that keep a practice running, and ethical marketing and referrals. Participants leave with a working 90-day launch plan, and participant worksheets accompany each module. Carrie Sorenson, LMFT, has spent more than 35 years supporting individuals, couples, families, and communities through meaningful change. Licensed in Oregon since 2001 and Washington since 2020, she has maintained a private counseling and coaching practice since 2003 and provided on-call crisis support within a large medical system for more than two decades. Her early work centered on high-risk and incarcerated youth and their families, in both direct-service and leadership roles. Over time, her practice expanded to include adults, couples, coaching, and professional workshops. Carrie feels deeply honored to be part of this profession and is especially passionate about welcoming, encouraging, and equipping newer clinicians as they grow into their own work.
