-Describe Tara Yosso’s Community Cultural Wealth (CCW) model and its relevance to counseling practice.
-Identify at least three forms of community cultural wealth in their lives.

Description
The dominant narrative of “self-care” in mental health has often centered individualism, personal responsibility, and individualized healing—frameworks that can unintentionally marginalize collectivistic cultural values and community-based ways of coping. This presentation invites clinicians to critically explore the limits of self-care discourse and re-center care as relational, communal, and culturally grounded. Drawing on Tara Yosso’s Community Cultural Wealth framework, participants will learn to identify and integrate familial, social, spiritual, navigational, and resistant forms of capital into counseling practice.

Bio: Valli is a mental health counselor and educator whose work centers on culturally responsive, community-centered approaches to healing. Her clinical and scholarly interests include group counseling, collectivistic care, and the integration of culture, family, and community in mental health practice. Drawing on critical frameworks such as Tara Yosso’s Community Cultural Wealth, she seeks to bridge research and practice to promote more equitable and relational models of care.
